Maybe He Was Going to Blog About It ...

What a boob. Mark Sabia has a press pass and goes to every major sporting event in New York City for 20 years, with camera equipment and an assistant. He knows everyone, interviews everyone, is a regular fixture. But...

Apparently he did everything but actually file reports anywhere. So he was arrested when he showed up at the New York Mets Opening Day this month to "work".

Exactly the opposite of what Jayson Blair did, who fabricated the stories but feigned all the legwork.

Hey, maybe they could work together!

___

Then there's Luke. He faithfully researches, he attends, dissects and analyses, elegantly reports, and even gets published in a real print publication.

He's just not bothering to get paid for it.

It takes all kinds.

** sorry, Luke :-) **

Gay Marriage and the End of Civilized Society

Quote:

"Gay marriage doesn't affect you one way or the other. Gay marriage doesn't change your marriage and it doesn't change your religion. A million gay people can get married tomorrow and nothing would change for you. Nothing at all. You wouldn't even notice it but for your obsession about other peoples' sex lives.

Britney Spears can still get married while drunk for the 5th, no 6th, no, 7th time in Vegas to someone she just met last week, or even that night.
You can still get married and divorced in the same day if you wish in several states and in some you can do that several times.
Two 80 year olds can still get married as long as they are of different genders and even if one or both are afflicted with dementia.
Two people of different genders can be married without ever meeting one another, even on the day of the wedding.
Your sister can marry a guy on death row and never consumate the marriage.
Your grandmother can marry the 20-year-old pool boy.
Mary K. Latourneau can still marry the schoolboy she raped.

Please don't tell me that gays are destroying the sanctity of marriage. Heterosexuals are doing a pretty bang up job of that without any help at all from gays."

I don't even know how I was pointed to the link I just quoted, but I thought it was cogent.

Every single decade of every single century, the moral authority says the fabric of the world is unravelling. I don't see it.

I'm a fanatically committed family guy and ethically driven community Joe, despite the fact that the world has been falling apart since before I was born.

People are spending years of political capital to get an amendment banning gay marriage and God(s) are being inserted into science classes and the Ten Commandments are smuggled into Federal Courthouses; simultaneously, God is being snipped from the Pledge of Allegience, and crosses are being litigated off of city seals and torn from war memorials and mountaintops across America.

Does nobody on either side of the moral teeter-totter have anything to do with their time these days?

Where's George?

Some people are really fanatical about keeping track of their money.

Even after they've spent it.

At Where's George?, you can register your dollar bills by serial number and watch them travel the world over.

Not that you have anything else to do with your time. Hell, you're reading my blog.

Habemus Papam - The Party's Over

After two weeks of Popeless meandering, the Catholic Church has installed a new shepherd, Pope Benedict XVI.

Time to clean up the mess.

The Onion (of course) REPORTS:

" 'When I heard the pope was dead, the first thing I thought about, besides how much the great man will be missed, was the big bloody steak I was going to eat on Friday,' said Whitestone. 'When the pope was alive, I never would've thought of flouting the 1917 Pio-Benedictine Code Of Canon Law. But once he was out of the picture, I immediately bore false witness against my neighbor. And then I coveted his wife.' "

Seven Score and Zero Years Ago, Today...

...Abraham Lincoln succumbed to wounds.

Remember, guns don't kill people. Conspiratorial Confederate Sympathisers with unspeakably easy access to the luxury box, kill people.

White Guys Kept Down by The Man

"Seventeen white, male police lieutenants were awarded nearly $2.2 million by a jury that concluded they were not promoted because of discrimination."

This you don't see every day.

In an odd twist that will one day be heard in the Supreme Court, the seventeen are also demanding reparations from the legal descendants of their own 18th century American ancestors, the white male aristocracy whose historical actions created the environment today that would allow a case such as this to occur.

...

Guess which part of this post I totally made up.

The Vatican is Poping on The Prince's Parade

If the Catholic Church hadn't set this Friday the 8th as the funeral date for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican, I would never have even noticed Prince Charles' Wedding II in England.

Isn't it enough already that nearly nobody at all cares that the Prince is marrying Her Royal Homewrecker Camilla Parker Bowles? Now, the man who would be King if only his mom finally wouldn't, is actually prancing politically around the issue of changing the date of his un-ceremony.

Charles, the smart money is on the Pope. Do what you will.
